ALOHA! and welcome to Kalauao, the personal website of Jordon (AKA Bruce). This site has no real purpose except to give you people something to keep you busy for an hour or two. So please have fun!
November 4, 2008: Hope everyone voted today. Obviously, some very big changes today. First of all, the website has been renamed to "Kalauao;" the Kewlies name will now only be used in association with my personal business; I wanted to keep both entities separate. Kalauao is the name of an old Hawaiian ahupua‘a, and a valley and stream that exist in the ahupua‘a. I've lived on the edge of this valley my whole life. The name Kalauao translates roughly to "the multitude of clouds," which probably refers to the many clouds that congregate on the upper part of Kalauao valley.
I chose the name "Kalauao" for three reasons. First, it's been my home for 21 years. Second, the translation of "Kalauao" matched quite well with my layout, haha. Finally, the clouds in the translation serve a metaphoric purpose as well. When I a student back at ‘Aiea Intermediate School back in the day, my friends and I used to spend a lot of time just staring at the clouds lying a hill near "C" building. So, the "clouds" in the translation serve a nostalgic purpose as well.
Second, I've added a couple of new things on the sidebar. First is the projects page, where I've listed some of the things I'm currently working on. Second, there is the group page, that aims to do long term group fun planning (whatever that means). Finally, there is the One of these days page, which hasn't been built yet and probably won't be built for a while.
Note that this website is now in a new location: http://kalauao.betterperson.net. There was some downtime involved in moving this site; I apologize if you were affected by it.
Other than these changes, the site remains essentially the same. Enjoy!
February 29, 2008: Too busy for this website. I've been planning this update since February but I've been extremely busy with everything else. Anyway, here it finally is: I've uploaded some really old photos that I took when I was in fifth grade containing mainly shots from LAE and A+. The very first photos I ever took, to be sure!
February 29, 2008: Happy Leap Year! Been doing some clean-up around the site in my few spare moments between classes and work. The Kristine Krystal place holder page should work now, and so should the new ‘Aiea Highlife page. Finally, all the images on the interest page should now work. Expect updates during spring break in March!
January 11, 2008: Several new changes. First, the ‘Aiea Highlife project is now mirrored on this website, and may be moved here permanently. If you're not sure what ‘Aiea Highlife is, I encourage you to look at the new ‘Aiea Highlife section and find out! Second, due to popular request, I intend to (at some point in the future) revive my old Kristine Krystal™ project. There's a link for it now on the sidebar, but the site is not yet up. Stay tuned for further news on Kristine Krystal. Finally, there is a brand new section up: the interests section. It lists my interests, just like the title suggests. It's pretty bare bones right now, but it will grow in time, just like the rest of this website.
December 28, 2007: And another new gallery! 22 new photos from Aiea High School's May Day 2006, Featuring, in particular, Maruel Unrein and Naomi Grace!
November 22, 2007: New photos! 27 new photos from my Aiea High School 2005 class's Project Grad are now online. These photos are over two years old and are full of interesting memories, so go check them out!
July 26, 2007: More photos have been added! Seven photos from ‘Aiea High School's 2001 Winterball are now online. All photos have been generously donated for use on this website by Nicole Miyaji. These photos were actually online previously, but they went down when TopCities deleted this site's old account and have not been readded until now.
July 24, 2007: New photos have finally been added to the website! 44 photos from summer 2006 are now online. These include shots from grad parties and get-togethers. Now, I know I said on the blog yesterday that I was going to convert the entire pictures section into a Flickr based model, but after trying both Flickr and Picasa, I have decided not to go forward with it and just keep the current static-HTML based model.
May 7, 2007: This is just an "I'm still alive" update; so all I did was change my "enter" page and messed around with my "about me" page. Hopefully more substantial updates will come this summer!
August 20, 2006: I sort of started up my site's music section as a very sarcastic stub. You can go look at it, there's actually one file up to download and I promise there will be more to come (though I make no guarantees as to when I'll get it up there).
July 28, 2006: Wow, where did the summer go? I've been super busy so far this summer but I finally managed to put together some time to update this site. Because my scanner is dead, I've pretty much temporarily abandoned the old photo file naming scheme and uploaded sixteen new pictures from the 2006 high school graduation season. These are literally the first new pictures to be added to this site in about two years, so enjoy!
June 2, 2006: Change is once again coming to Kewlies! First off, I recently completed the phase-out of the "Kewlies Communications" and "Prince Poki" names from this website. This change has been done to separate my professional life from my personal life; thus, Kewlies Communications no longer has anything to do with this website (and hasn't since December 2005). The "Kewlies" name will from now on be used only for my professional enterprises, such as the pending launch of my "Alison" and "Ellen" web products. As for the "Prince Poki" name, that brand has pretty much been dead since December when I last used it on a series of presentations I made for a conference. So we'll see what the future has in store for both things.
Also, I'm once again planning to update the website's pictures section. Wherever possible, I will now use the following resolutions for new photographs: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x960, 1280x1024, and 1600x1200. Computers display resolutions are constantly on the rise, so I'm including these larger displays to try and keep up. I'll probably fail at this, but hey, at least I'm trying.
May 8, 2006: I've reuploaded Faye's 2002 birthday album, rewritten and redesigned from the bottom up. Faye never did give me those pictures of hers to scan so the only pictures of us on that page are Nicole's. I actually have a couple of photos from Sheldon to throw up there but I can't scan them right now since...well, I don't have a scanner hooked up. Hopefully sometime this summer everything will finally run smoothly on this old website.
April 24, 2006: I managed to pull some free time together today to restore more photos that were formerly on this website but then disappeared. I rewrote the Summer Fun program's photo page and separated them by year. Thus, two new albums are up on this website: Summer Fun 1998 and Summer Fun 1999. The photos in those two albums are now available in larger wallpaper sizes and the pages themselves are in the new pictures page layout.
January 3, 2006: Sheldon's 6th grade banquet photos have been readded to the site, bringing the on-site total to 96. I'm working to get the 700+ photos that were once on this site back online but that will take time. I've also been tweaking with the picture pages layout.
