Pictures: 5th Grade Fun

My grandfather got me my first camera when I was in the 5th grade at Alvah Scott Elementary School. It was a disposible Kodak one-time use camera, if I remember correctly. I took the camera to school and took a bunch of photos in my L.A.E. class, recess, and at A+. Originally, I had waaaaay more photos than what exists on this page today--the roll of film was a role of 27, as in most disposible cameras. However, I have lost 2/3rds of the original photos, leaving only these nine here today. How did I lose them? I gave a few away, including a really nice photo of Naline (does anyone remember her?) and one of her good friends, which I gave to Naline shortly before she moved away. Not surprisingly, the only photos I have left are the crapiest ones. Just for the record, all the photos on this page were taken on a single day in April or May 1998.

Lauren and Matthew

Lauren Walls and Matthew Spencer sadly both left Alvah A. Scott Elementary School at the end of fifth grade. As most elementary school friendships go, I never saw either of them again, and I do wonder what happened to both of them. Lauren had a very perky personality that never failed to keep my interest (Ha Ha a Hoy!, if anyone remembers this, haha). Matthew was super smart and had a great sense of humor. I'd imagine that both were very successful with their schooling and they must be going to world class colleges now. 2

As Long As You Love Me
[800x600] [1024x768] [1280x1024] [1600x1200]
The A+ after school program at our school had an annual talent show. Because anyone from any grade can perform, I didn't really know anyone outside my own grade who performed on this date. However, I did know these people. From left to right are (I think): Cristen Clark, Brandie, and Shareyn Muneoka. Amber Irish also performed with them, but she was right behind Brandie and you can only see her arm in this picture. The four girls did a coreographed dance to the Backstreet Boy's song "As Long As You Love Me." 4

Same as above. The part of the dance that they are performing in this picture is with the very beginning of the chorus ("I don't care who you are"). From left to right are (I believe): Cristen Clark, Amber Irish, Brandie, and Shareyn Muneoka. 5
A+ Talent Show

This talent show was in 1998, sometime around April, if I remember correctly. I'm writing this description more than ten years later, in June 2008. I really can't remember the acts, but I believe that some of our group chaperones (the adult leaders) were performing a dance here. 6
A+ Talent Show

This was a completely different act, but this time all of the A+ leaders are involved. If I remember correctly, they were forced up on stage and made to dance. 7
Gymnastics!

A few girls from a lower grade performed gymnastics at the talent show; this was one of them. Of course I have no clue who this girl is. 8

Same as above. This time the "gymnastic" form is a lot easier to see. 9
